INSTAOGRAPHY & THE 5 APPS I USE

$

I think it is safe to say we are all pretty big Instagram user spending a good majority of our days taking pretty pictures, editing them and posting them for the world to see and love heart like. So I thought I would create a little post sharing with some of my favourite photo editing apps that I use pretty much all the time to create that perfect Instagramable picture.

A Beautiful Mess // I use ABM to add a fun element to my pictures whether is s a cute border, some text or cute symbols. It was one of the first apps I downloaded to edit my images, and I think at the time I paid 69p for it. I don't use it very often however it is such a cute app to have when wanting too add a personal touch to some photos, specially foodstagram and cute memoir moments. (See below for photo examples)
A Beautiful Mess App // Kirsty Wears Blog
Insta Size // is the app I use to create white space around my photos, and it is also the app I use if a photo is to narrow or too large to fit in the standard Instagram photo square. I find I use Insta Size the most for displaying full length outfits, sometimes collaging two images together (like example), and displaying a whole picture whether it is portrait or landscape.
Insta Size App // Kirsty Wears Blog
VSCOcam // I love VSCOcam it is a great app to use for editing a photos exposure, saturation, contrast etc.. I know you can now do this in Instagram but I tend to use VSCOcam still as I personally think it is a lot better to control. Also I love the filters that are available on VSCOcam they just have a nice feel and look to them. The app also has a 'fade' feature which I love to use on my photos. Personally I use this app A LOT, I'd say for the majority of all my Instagram photos, I find it editing perfect for pretty much every photo I take. So yep! VSCOcam is a winner in my eyes.
VSCOcam App // Kirsty Wears Blog
Mirror Effect // it is what it states on the tin. This app I simply use to mirror an image, and without a separating white line through the middle. A quick and easy app to use and it also allows you to crop down your image and re mirror it, so you can minimise the space mirrored in between (I have no clue weather that last sentence made any sense) but hey. Again I use Mirror Effect for outfit shots, as it is always nice to see double aha.
Mirror Effect App // Kirsty Wears Blog
Picfx // I have used this app since the beginning when I created my Instagram on my iPod touch (yolo). I think I downloaded it along side A Beautiful Mess and I also think I paid 69p for it. This app is great to play around with as it offers loads of effects and filters to edit your images with. Personally I use it most for adding light effects to my photos, from a pink hue dusting or sprinkles of light dots (see below). I used this app a lot in the beginning, but maybe not so much now, however it is a great one to have just in case you feel like you're in the twinkling mood. I may start using it more often as it gives a photo such a pretty look and feel, perfect for making picture perfect memories. Also this app allows you to layer effects and filters on top of one another so you can play around with it for ages.
Picfx App // Kirsty Wears Blog
I hope you found this post useful and maybe some new photo editting apps to try. I know that I like to read these kinds of blog posts one because I'm nosey and two because I'm always looking for new apps to try and download. So on that note do let me know of any photo editing apps you think I might like. Adios Amigos x

Thailand Blue Dress // Kirsty Wears Style Blog

Midi Dress - Thailand Find (Similar // ASOS)
Bag & Sandals - Primark

I caved and bought something new.. I guess being a lover of fashion and clothes it is just my natural instinct to want to purchase something new to wear when you've worn practically everything (twice) to hand. I picked this little dress up last week after seeing a couple of weeks go, really liking the midi length and dainty rose print. I never really thought of myself as a floral girl but something about this dress made me really drawn to it, maybe it was the fact that it was amazingly bright blue. So after convincing James I needed another dress away I went in the hope that it was still there. I picture this little number perfect in the Autumn (back home) teamed with a little black knitted jumper, belted at the waist, with some really cute ankle boots and a beanie hat. I put together a little look similar to this below showing just how I would style it as A/W look.

TIPS & TRICKS // Keeping inspired as a whole & your blog

$

One of the hardest things I find to do is keeping myself inspired and motivated, therefore I constantly remind myself that everyday is a new which is an opportunity to find new inspirations and make new goals. Having studied a creative degree you'd think seeking inspiration would come second nature to me however that is not the case and it takes a great deal of self motivation and determination to keep yourself inspired. There were moments when I thought it was just not possible but then a little self evaluation and belief anything is possible, so if you seek to do something in life that you love and really want then the only way you are going to achieve at anything is through hard work and positivity. So on that note I thought I would share with you guys a few of the things that I do on a daily basis to keep myself inspired to continue with both my blog and my future ambition.
Keeping Inspired // Kirsty Wears
Mood Boards // One of the main things that I love to do and could possibly spend hours creating is mood boards both online and on paper. I find it is a great way to seek and collect inspiration for all sort of things whether it's a project or simply just fashion and wardrobe inspiration. I currently obsessed with Pinterest which I recently joined, it makes it so easy to categorise all the things you love and a great way to have all your inspiration in one place. My boards include all sorts of things from food, decor, fashion, and travel - and I am constantly adding to them each day.

What You Love // It is important to remember why you started something or what made you want to do what you are doing now. It is very easy to loose the motivation to carry on especially when you feel like you have been doing something for so long - forgetting why your doing it in the first place is very easy. So to prevent feeling lost and with no will you need to continue, surround yourself with all the things that you are passionate about and continue to do the things you enjoy. Whether it is blogging, creating outfits, trend hunting, drawing, photography, designing, whatever it is - just carry on doing them. As it is only when you stop or start to slow down that you begin to feel lost. I know from personal experience that feeling lost and with no direction is a horrible thing, but there is no better feeling of carrying out a dream or working hard on something that you fully enjoy and getting results. I guess what I am trying to say is SURROUND YOURSELF IN & WITH WHAT YOU LOVE GURLL ...or BOY!

Other Blogs // I love to read my favourite blogs and I also love to come across new blogs too. I couldn't imagine four years ago that I would make blog reading part of my daily doings, but now does not go a day where I won't scroll through my Bloglovin feed and catch up with all my favs. Being and feeling part of a community (this case blogging and fashion etc) is possibly one of the most inspiring things, meeting and making friends from your little online hub is probably one of the great things that come from writing a blog and it is strange because most of us probably got told not to talk to strangers over the internet. LOL oops!

Those Wardrobe Favourites // Ok so it probably obvious that I have a love for clothes and fashion in general (hence why there is a whole blog about it), I literally live, breath, dream and eat it. However recently I have come to a fashion stand still as I am half way across the world living out a suitcase that has already become full to its means. So whats a girl to do that has already worn everything at least twice and couldn't possibly buy any more new clothes. Revive the old, yup that is what I have been doing you have probably already seen a few repeats of certain items on the blog but it has been working (for me anyway) and it means I still get to blog outfits and share with you guys different ways to wear things. You never know pulling out some of the old wardrobe garms you might find something that you wasn't too sure about and now love.
Keeping Inspired // Kirsty Wears
Take Pictures // See something you like take a picture, you like your hair today take a picture. There is no harm in documenting things you like and find because one day that picture will spark a memory or inspire you to do something. I find Instagram a great visual blog for documenting all my favourite things and a create way to create memories. Some of my favourite instagram photos to take include flat lays, ootd (outfit of the day), from where I stand, selfie's (of course who doesn't). Instagram is also a great way to seek inspiration from other people and fellow bloggers.

Stay positive // & Lastly remember to stay positive. For me this is an important factor that I try and do everyday, especially when thinking about the future and possible careers and ideas. It is so easy to get bogged down in the feeling your not achieving what you want to be achieving or get caught up in comparing yourself to others around you. Remembering that if it is meant to be it will be, and if your working hard and enjoying what you do then you will eventually be where you want to be. I have touched on this in a previous post here if you fancied a read.
Keeping Inspired // Kirsty Wears
There you have it my six things that I try and make sure that I do to continue to feel inspired with both my life and my little old blog. Sometimes it is easy to feel like your not gaining anything but I guess it all boils down to hard work and a little belief and of course self motivation. I hope you liked this post please let me know if you did and leave me a comment below :) also do share any inspiration seeking tips that you have and if you also have done a post similar to this so I can have a read. BOOHOO X CHRISTMAS

NINE more weeks till Christmas day, holy smokes! Girlfriends we need to get ready. Ok so if your like me and seem to always leave everything to the last minute when it comes to Christmas, even if you prematurely promise to yourself that you won't. Somehow it always happens, when it comes to buying gifts, wrapping gifts, and buying festivity frocks (which I never have any money left for). So I think October (well it is November tomorrow but hey) is a good time to prepare or just have it there in the back of your mind, you know just so we are thinking about it. Gift / Present wise I shall cover maybe  four more weeks down the line, but for now lets think about 'What To Wear' and to help us Boohoo have only gone at got it covered with a Christmas Collection.

So Boohoo have got it all to make sure we look effortlessly fabulous this season, with their gorgeous Christmas collection which will be sure to dazzle not only your eyes but every one in sight around the festive season. Here are just a few of my favourite pieces that are to hit the online store very soon. As you can see all things sparkle and glam are definitely in my books this Christmas, I love the sassiness of the fluffy trims and luxe shine fabric finishes. Keeping it classy with long lengths and wide leg trousers but adding just enough ooh lala with deep v neck plunges and cut out panelling. Boohoo's Christmas collection is just simply gorgeous it is almost impossible to choose from the range, but it is safe to say there is definitely a look for every festive occasion here. So see your 2014 out in style in with Boohoo.

LEVI VINTAGE SHORTS

Howdy! My last post was just over 2/3 weeks ago me thinks, and since that time I have had a one of my best friends visits me here in Thailand, bought some new bits, drunk maybe a little too much and well just been having a pretty amazeballs time. But sadly my Samantha has gone home and it is just me and James again, which is nice but after having such an amazing 2 weeks with my lady pal it feels awfully quiet again. So on that note this weeks priorities are to get back to my island routine, continue with work things and of course my blog :)

Kick starting with a recent OOTD post featuring a fabulous pair of Levi vintages short shorts which I picked up for just 5 English pounds (inserts: whoop whoop). Ok so your probably think calm down love, but honestly you will not believe the struggle I have to get a decent fitting pair of jean shorts. They're either to big at the waist - perfect on the bum or perfect at the waist and my arse practically hanging out.  So these bad boys are the creme dela creme in my eyes, I just can't take them off (literally they're fit like a glove).

I hope you guys aren't getting sick of me and my never ending summer wardrobe, I know it is winter now back home and I am love reading all your winter outfit posts but I can't help but feel like I don't fit in, standing out like a sore thumb in my shorts shorts and flippy flops….

Life Lately // 03

It has been awhile since I a posted a 'life lately' update, so today this is what I plan to do. Quite a fair bit has happened over on the land of coconuts since I my last life snippet post. From me joining the gym (yes me), a best friend visiting, puppies everywhere and me and James moving yet again to another part of the Island. Ok that might not seem as eventful as you might of assumed but believe me to me and my beachin' self I was rushed off my feet. Aha I think I may have forgotten what hard work is.. Here are just a few of my favourite photo snips from the last few months.

Life Lately 03 // Kirsty Wear Style Blog<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/104408248@N03/15324582633" title="Life Lately 03 // Kirsty Wear Style Blog by Kirsty Anderton, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8607/15324582633_a59d0c781b_b.jpg" width="1024" height="722" alt="Lif
Had the best two weeks ever when my gorgeous friend Sam came to visit, I did not realise how much I missed my girlfriends and girl time until she was here. We spent the whole 14 days laughing, singing, dancing and just being completely loons which we are best at aha. It was an emotional goodbye, but we made some of the best memories.

Life Lately 03 // Kirsty Wear Style Blog
If you follow me on Instagram then you probably would of seen these two photos, plus a trillion more. I was not always a dog person (as I have only ever had cats) but ever since my mum bought little Bella into the family and I guess living with James and his doggies for awhile I have become a sucker for all furry four legged friends. I'm obsessed and am really wanting a puppy of my own (possible future goals when I'm home) so you can imagine my excitement and joy when the owner of our guesthouse has a litter of 9 fluffy white puppies. Honestly if I could I would of brought every single one of them to take home with me, just look at the cuteness and yes I lapped up my daily dose of puppy cuddles EVERYDAY!

Back to the beginning of October me and James celebrated our 6 year anniversary together and Thailand being the perfect place for us to reflect on how far we have come both individually and in our relationship. Anyone who is or has been in a long term relationship you'll all know that there are times when things get tough, but pushing through whatever situation it might be and coming out even closer and stronger than ever before, just proves that it is a relationship worth fighting for.  I'm so grateful to have James in my life and yes we have had shit times but getting through them together and becoming closer just makes all those times worth the upset. We are having the time our lives out here together and I am so over the moon that I get to experience this way of life with my love. (Ok sorry I was not expecting the soppy-ness, I'll shut up now)

Life Lately 03 // Kirsty Wear Style Blog
We have just moved to Choeng Mon which is a quieter part of Koh Samui Island. After being in Chaweng for so long we felt like it was time for a change of scenery and atmosphere, even though I loved Chaweng with its busy night life and frequent markets. Choeng Mon is a lot more peaceful and we have found a cheap enough place to stay that includes a pool, beach and gym so we have lots to keep us busy (however I miss the puppies), Chaweng is only 10 minutes away via tuk tuk so we can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Life Lately 03 // Kirsty Wear Style Blog
Last but not least introducing blonde me. Maybe a little dramatic I know (my dad thinks I have lost the plot, maybe I have) but after wanting to go lighter with my hair for so long I decided to take the plunge and I didn't go softly either. So here I am with my almost white locks and I love it, at first maybe a little shocked but a couple of days to adjust I am so glad I took the risk. Despite my hair being completely destroyed from the bleach (although it was in terrible condition before hand) I have no regrets what so ever and I'm so excited to live out my next chapter as a blondie. Ooo I might even go Lilac or Pink or Blue the possibilities are endless hehee.

TRAVEL // 6 MONTHS IN KOH SAMUI THAILAND

Can you believe me and James have already reached the half way point to our island adventure, I certainly cannot. It seems only last week I was just arriving in Koh Samui to join James and being our journey. So with that said and of course 2014 coming to a close I thought I would take this time as the perfect opportunity to round up a few of my favourite memories of our Thailand experience so far, and maybe a few extra blog posts over December just give you a little more insight and my opinion on some the places we have visited and stayed. Almost like a mini 'Koh Samui Guide' - just in case you plan on visiting here some day (I know I am helpful like that). The majority of the 6 months we have lived in Koh Samui Island which if you don't know already is about 1 hour plane ride from Central Thailand, Bangkok. We have stayed all over Koh Samui Island (which is only small) which means I can fill you in with all its best bits and places. So look out for those post to follow, but for now here are my best bits.. Hope you enjoy xo

Pages from my journal - Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog
Scrapbook - Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog

Since graduating from university and working full time I struggled to find the time to do all the things I loved, drawing and designing being one of them. So Thailand for me has also been about being able to get back into the things that I am passionate about (one being my blog), and the other just freely being able to doodle away. So my little collection of drawings and tat means a lot to me, and I cannot wait to look back on it in years to come.. So yes James that does mean I am going to continue on shell hunting.

Thailand and it's wonderful markets - Favourite Memories // Kirsty Wears Blog
Thailand Market Finds - Kirsty Wears

Ok so if you follow me over on instagram or twitter, or even know me in person (lol) then you'll know that I am a massive collector of all things pretty and fabric and jewels. With that said the markets here in Thailand have been one of my highlights and yes most of it is all the same and yes most of it is all pretty junk, but I love all that and could spend every evening just strolling around seeing what I can find. If I was left to my own accord (which James safely knows not to do) I would literally be penniless and probably back home already.

Endless Summer - Koh Nang Yuang Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog

The endless beach days. To be a beach bum probably has been a dream of mine since I can remember, and to say that I have fulfilled that dream (for one year) makes me super happy. All your worries, troubles and stresses gone just like that, all you have is time and time to yourself which I think is important to all of us. Being able to wake up every morning, well nearly every morning - we have had quite a lot of rain recently (which slightly ruined beach days aha) and being able to just go sit on a beach for half the day or more has just been a dream and has been one of my favourite things. Because we have been on the island for so long now, we have almost seen and done pretty much everything we wanted to do therefore each day we are just living and enjoying having all this time to ourselves to just live and not worry. Honestly anyone who is considering travelling for a year or just living in a different country, I'd 100% say to you DO IT, and you'll be surprised how fast the time goes and that it self makes me glad that I did it. Time goes fast - but nothing really changes, so make a change.

PUPPIES // Kirsty Wears Blog

Yes the puppies made it in the favourites, how could they not. Just look how happy I am in this picture makes me cry with laughter every time. There were 9 puppies in total and if I could get them all up in my arms I would. I was so sad to say goodbye to them when we moved this month, but I'm sure it won't be the last time I see them (if I have anything to do with it won't). Maybe a bike ride is on the cards..
6 months in thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog
// James and I, doing what we do best. Goofing around. This trip so far has been the best and there is none else I would rather experience it all with that my love.

// The elephants were amazing, such beautiful creatures and to see them up close and feed them lots of bananas was so much fun.

// One of my favourite things to do have been visiting the temples and getting to go inside. Such amazing buildings and so much detail and design go into each and every single one. They are like works of art.

// Koh Nang Yuan was a trip I'll never forget, and not because I was terrible ill on the boat but because I have never seen an island so beautiful and waters so clear. It was one of my favourite days.

// I do love a beach swing.

// Mine and James afternoon strolls and stumbling across treasures. This spirit tree has to be the most sassiest tree I have ever seen, I know that I will be pulling this one out in future projects for inspiration.

// ROAD TRIPS!! Were so much fun, getting lost countless times and finding hidden coral coves. If you haven't seen already I made a few road trip Vlogs.

// Again the temples and Buddhas were amazing to see.

// Our very long adventure to get our visa renewed, was tiring but has been part of the journey so far and a good one.

Bestie came to visit Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog

I will never forget the faberooni time I had when one of my best friends came to visit and stay with me. Literally we did not stop laughing for the whole 2 weeks, and I'm sure we will never forget all the funny things we saw and did. Thank you so much for coming out Sam!!

Thailand // Meeting Natalie the baby elephant - Favourite Memories // Kirsty Wears Blog

Meeting baby elephant Natalie was probably one of my TOP favourite days, she was so gentle and cute. We were sure to buy her lots of bananas. I have loved having my Polaroid camera out here to capture some precious moments, although there has been many times I wished I had it with me when I didn't.

No.2 Waterfall Koh Samui Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog

Oh soppy. Not sorry. This is one of my favourite (said that word so much I WANT to punch myself) photos of me and James. It is just so cute and at the Waterfall that we have been to a couple of times now, which has been one of our best places to visit in Koh Samui.

When I woke up in time to catch the sunrise over Surat Thani, on our ferry trip to the border. This place is just so beautiful.

FOOD Koh Samui Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog

THE FOOD! I loved Thai food before I came to Thailand but honestly you have not tasted Thai food like it. It is 10000000000x better than back in the UK (obviously) I have eaten it pretty much everyday and am still not bored. It is so delicious and flavorous and spicy my god my mouths watering just thinking about it aha. Seriously there is nothing like it. Will most definitely miss it when we come back home.

halloween in thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog

Halloween was the best night. James won his Muay Thai fight , we partied all night long and then we got a burger king. Tremendous. Living here for the majority of the year means we get to see Koh Samui through all its seasons, holidays and celebrations, which has been so good to experience as coming for a couple of nights or a 2 week holiday you don't get to see all that goes on. I'm really looking forward to Christmas and New Year.

Christmas came to Koh Samui // Kirsty Wears Blog
Christmas came to Koh Samui // Kirsty Wears Blog
Speaking of Christmas, over the last month we have seen Koh Samui transform into a little Christmas paradise. With lights everywhere, Xmas trees in all restaurants and hotels, sparkling palm trees and quite possible to biggest Christmas tree I have ever seen in Central Festival (shopping centre). It is so magical and is making me very excited for the Christmas celebrations to come, even though it will just be me and James this year and I'll no doubt miss home lots on the day, it will still feel special and festive I'm sure.

So I think I will round this post up now at it is getting pretty heavy. I hope you enjoyed reading and seeing some of my best bits so far, I am having the most wonderful time and am cherishing every second. Crochet Watermelon Bikini // Kirsty Wears Blog

Last week I made it my mission to learn how to crochet so I can make myself some pretty halter tops and bikinis to wear whilst here on my travels. You may have seen I have blogged a few crochet finds from the local markets, however they are a little pricey to buy because they are hand made (of course) and when I say pricey I mean something like 800thb which is about £16 which is not that expensive I know. But I'm on a cheap living budget therefore pretty things over £10 I find hard to justify. SO with that explained aha I went out and found some pretty coloured yarn and set about teaching myself how to crochet. YOUTUBE tutorials galore and here you have it, my first crochet bikini. What do you think? It was actually really easy to follow so I will link below the youtube videos I used to teach myself. Next I think I will try out a halter top.. maybe a Christmas one hehe.

So with 2015 practically upon us, I thought I'd take a moment to share with you some of my blogging/interweb/insta favs that I read/watch probably everyday and have loved throughout 2014. SO HERE WE GO!

Bloggers

My list of favourite blogs grows every year and with the help of Instagram I came across a lot more. Oh the wonders of a hashtag. These are just three of my new favourites from 2014:

Glad Rags and Glitter Blog // 2014 FAVS

Glad Rags and Glitter // Nicky is the boho queen, I found her lovely blog through Instagram and fell in love instantly. This girls wardrobe is just a dream. I would like it ALL please.

The Little Plum // 2014 FAVS

The Little Plum // Chloe is just the sweetest little plum and her wardrobe is so effortlessly stylish. I am forever wishing I could pull off the tailored trouser look, and well simply just look as flawless ALL THE TIME!

Easy Tiger Blog // 2014 FAVS

Easy Tiger // Ok so not only does Tiger have the coolest name, her wardrobe screams the coolest of the cool. With a mixture of high street and vintage finds Tiger's style is killer.

Youtubers

I'm not going to lie before this year I never really watched / or in fact was into the whole youtube thing. Maybe because the Youtube hype got REALLY big this year, I found myself tuning in a lot more than I have ever done. Even creating a few mini travel blogs of my own. So with that said I am now a lover (obsessive) youtube viewer and here are just some of my favs I like to tune into :

The Little Magpie // I have followed Amy's blog TLM since the very begining and this girl will always be a top favourite of mine. But this year Amy ventured into the world of Youtube and hell is that girl funny always making me crack up to myself. I love to watch Amy's hauls, vlogs and tags (basically all of it).

Helen Anderson // Also known as Melon, is one of my favourite Youtubers to watch for both beauty, hair, fashion and just general giggles. Not only does Helen have amazing hair she has a great personality and I can just watch her videos for hours and have a whale of a time lol. (maybe I should get out more).

What Olivia Did // Olivia has only done a handful of videos, but after being a fan of her beautiful blog and writing for so long I knew I was going to enjoy watching her Youtube channel. Two of my favourites being her 'Smokey Eye Tuturiol' and her collaboration with Lulu Guinness with the 'TMI Tag'.

Instagrammers

I am an Instagram obsessive and can spend hours looking at pretty accounts with endless pictures of clothes, coffee, puppies and more clothes. Honestly I cannot remember my life before Instagram.. what I did with my free time I do not know. That is terrible I know, but I know all you interwebbers out there will relate with me on that one (I'm sure). So here are some of my fav accounts..

Sarah Hashcroft aka That Pommie Girl // Another lovely that I happened to come across on Instagram, in fact you probably all have at some point as Sarah has taken over the Instagram world with her gorgeous fashion account. Posting everyday, Sarah is stunningly flawless in both her looks and style.

Katy Mitten // Katy's whole home is a dream and every photo she posts on Instagram has me cooing and awing all the time. From delicious looking hot chocolates and warm cosy pjs,  to pretty delicate flowers and kitty cat cuddles, Katy's Instagram is definitely one of my all time favourites.

Angelica Blick // If you ever just want to spend an afternoon 'wanderlusting' then Angelica's IG is the one to go to. All her travel snaps are so dreamy and have me dreaming of such exotic places to visit. Angelica is also uber stylish and will have you wishing for her wardrobe.

There you have it a snippet of some of my favourite interwebs of 2014, I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe found some new accounts, channels or blogs to follow. Tomorrow or maybe the day after I will be blogging all my OOTD's from this year + some from last year too, as it just so happens I didn't round up 2013 and I have no clue why. So stay tuned if you want to see all my looks for the last two years. Adios xo

.. and there you have it. It seems I was very much into the whole printed trouser scene this year, actually prints and colour altogether in general and with everything aha. A lot more than usual anyway. I am looking forward to see what 2015 will bring to my wardrobe, fingers crosses LOTS and hopefully just as bright!

(I noticed that for some reason I didn't round up my 2013 outfits last year, probably because me and my blog went a little quiet for a while. But I definitely did 2012 so I thought I would quickly just round up the previous year too, no harm on looking back on two years worth of clothes)

2015 YOUR GONNA BE A GOODEN!

I am really looking forward to 2015 will bring this year, I feel like I am in a really good place at the moment and I am going to make it my mission to keep up the positivity and just enjoy everything in my life and make the most of the time that we have. Because if there is anything I have learnt in the last couple of years and that is time and life is precious, with a flick of a switch it can change. So make the most of what we have got, spend quality time with loved ones and friend, stop trying to make everybody happy (because it is impossible) and just love you and keep doing what makes you happy. I wish everyone a spectacular year and I hope all your wishes and dreams come true, and all round you have a good one. So with that said 2015 we welcome you.. here are just a few of my 2k15 goals :

2015 GOALS // Kirsty Wears Blog - Pinterest Image
  • Say yes more! I have a habit of over thinking situations and sometimes letting the unknown and fear take over. So this year it will be my mission to say YES more and not to worry about things too much.
  • Stop over thinking! I guess this goes hand in hand with the above, this year I will try and stop over thinking life and just enjoy the moment.
  • Work hard. This year I plan to work on my own clothing/knitwear brand and give the old self employed game ago. So fingers crossed I can make the dream work. I WILL make the dream work!
  • See more and enjoy life all the time. Don't put off what you can do today, till tomorrow. Life is too short to miss out or wait for things. Do it now and have fun!
  • Travel lots. Me and James will spend half the year finishing our trip in Thailand and also in Bali too. So I am super looking forward to the adventures the next 6 months will bring.
  • Crochet and Knit a lot more for myself and others. Just be more creative in general. (I miss the uni days with endless projects and makey' things)
  • Spend more time with friends. Sometimes real life can get in the way of the important things in life, one being seeing loved ones and close friends. This year I will make it my priority to spend more time with my pals.
  • ERM SHOP LOTS. Being on a island for what will be a year means I haven't been able to shop and splurge what so ever. So winter 2015 I will be indulging myself in endless knitwear and gorgeous boots galore.
  • Be more healthy, and keep fit. Especially when I am back in the UK. It is far to easy to fall back into bad habits, but I am going to try my hardest to keep on track of my fitness and eat a lot more healthily.
  • Blog lots! Keep blogging about everything and anything that I love and enjoy. I have blogged a lot more 'travel' lifestyle' post since being here in Thailand and I have really enjoyed it. So I will continue to blog a different variety of things from my day to day life, interest and of course still fashion and regular ootds.
  • And lastly.. Be kind, be happy and keep on smiling!

Crochet Halter Top - Made by me
Wide Leg Stripe Trousers - HM (which are now £5 in the sale)

Bag - Primark
Sunglasses - Rayban (fake)

Sawadeeka, welcome to 2015 and my first ootd of the year. Which I will not lie there will probably only be a few of these over the next 6 months as I have ran out of nice, fresh, snazzy clothes to show and blog for you guys. I think I have truly squeezed and styled the life out of everything I have in my suitcase, so yup this will most likely be one of maybe a small handful that you will see on my blog until July - when I return back to the UK.

However I have been crocheting a lot recently as it is my new favourite thing to do whilst chilling (and I do that a lot) so I will be blogging all my makes and possibly popping a little outfit post when and as I am wearing them (like this one). So I hope that doesn't draw you away to much, and thank you to everyone who reads, comments and follows my blog it is really encouraging when you receive feedback. Especially when you have been blogging for quite awhile like me it is always nice to know people still like to read and keep up to date with all my musings. So thank you all very much, sending big smooches.

So back to my outfit, I originally made this little crop top to wear over Christmas hence the red and white theme, however since being a blondie (which I am still getting used to) I am really loving the colour red. Therefore have slightly fallen in love with this little halter top and have been wearing it pretty much all the time, I guess it can be worn all year round as red and white is not just for Santa Claus (because Santa that would just be selfish). Today I teamed it with these amazing H&M trouser which were very popular when they hit the selves last summer, luckily at the time I was working in H&M so I could snap a pair up before they sold out. The wide leg trouser is such a flattering and easy to style to wear, I was worried at first because I am bottom heavy and thought maybe these would not do me any justice (being striped and all) but I was wrong. They are the prefect pair of go to trousers for the summer, especially if your not in the mood to bare your pins. They have been great out here in Thailand, and I will definitely be repurchasing into the wide leg trouser for summer 2015.

DIY Crochet Crop Top // Kirsty Wears Blog

Yes I'm on a crochet roll, this being my third project I have completed. I feel like I am starting to get a little faster, but still trying to teach myself new techniques and stitches as I go. Here I have used the basic bikini cup technique and then incorporated the 'granny stitch' and 'scalloped hem' stitch around the edges. I have also weaved in some scrap fabric that I had into the bigger stitches giving the edges a little more detail. Ill be honest and say the fit is not 100% perfect and a little too big for me (mainly because I have no boobs, god damn it) but overall this is definitely my favourite piece so far. What do you guys think?

Here I have teamed it with just a simple pair of high waisted denim shorts, but these types of tops also look great with some mom jeans and maybe even a pair of high waisted tailored bottoms i.e cigarette trousers.

Loving recently - Maybelline Red // Kirsty Wears Blog

One of my new years goals was to be more adventurous with my beauty habits and stop with the old 'it just doesn't suit me excuses', because really lets face it you never really tried did ya Kirst.  I have always wished I could be one of those girls who can rock a red lip and always catch myself crushing and slightly envious of those who do. So with that on my 2015 agenda I took it upon myself to purchase a pretty bold lippy - Maybelline's Matte Bold - Matt5 to be precise and I can safely say I am loving it. I'm not going to lie I still haven't got it down to a T yet, and find myself constantly checking myself in the mirror (or self-facing camera) to make sure I haven't clumsily smudged it half way up my cheek, but a gurl is getting there and I think I am breaking the old bold lip confidence barrier (pats self on back). Loving recently - Maybelline Red // Kirsty Wears Blog
Have you guys got any top tips on keeping your lippy lasting longer, or any colour/brand recommendations I must try? Please do let me know?

Elephant Trousers // OOTDElephant Pants // OOTDElephant Pants // OOTDMe and James // Thailand // 26.01.2015

Morning Monday. Today's post is a quick ootd from earlier this morning ( thai time ) I am currently sitting in an oversized tee (james's) sweating my arse off trying to take a breather from the glorious and incredibly hot sunshine outside, so I thought I'd quickly put a post together.

Elephant Pants // OOTD

Yesterday me and James took a little Sunday stroll around Chaweng as we had a few errands to get from the supermarket, and me being me I do like to take our afternoon strolls as the perfect opportunity to wonder around the never changing clothes shops. So I guess this is where these insanely large elephant trousers come in, I have been after a pair of these elephant pants (I think that is what they're called) for a while now and you're probably thinking why? Because yes they are ridiculously large, and probably the most unflattering trouser known to man, however I personally I think coolest pair of trouser I have ever seen (ok slight exaggeration), but they're are great though and they are so super comfy. I just want to spend the rest of my life in them, so with that in mind I also purchased an Orange pair with little elephants on too. When in Thailand I say..

Also today I wore my latest crochet garm creation, this little multi colour crop top. I am actually really happy with how this one turned out it fits perfectly and I really like to style. So this one is definitely a winner, I may make some more.

I am totally aware this is probably not the most on trend of outfits (who am I kidding, it is not at all) and my blog hasn't been let say up-to-date fashionably recently, but this is how I am living most days and well I kind of like it. Taking a step back from the ever changing fashion scene and just having a whale of a time in my BIG PANTS - whats not to like.

On that note, time to go back to the beach.. enjoy your day amigos.

TRAVEL // VISITING KOA TAO THAILAND

Today I thought it was about time I continued on with my 'travel' section of the blog, and finish putting together the next addition to my Thailand posts. I have only managed my 'best 6 month bits so far' which was way back in the beginning of December and I was suppose to round these all up before the end of December for you but with all the festivities and Christmas time celebration, I sort of lost track blog wise. But no better time than the present so here we are. My take on visiting Koh Tao (Turtle Island).
KOHTAO // Travel Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog
Koa Tao was where me and James stayed for a few nights before heading to Koh Samui (which is just across the water, a 2 hour boat ride to be precise). Koa Tao is known for its turtle shaped island and is the perfect spot if you are looking to do some deep sea diving, or just snorkeling in that matter. With is crystal blue ocean and white sandy beach Koa Tao will be sure to take your breath away. The few days we were there we had glorious weather and literally the sea was like a warm crystal bath (maybe not as refreshing as you hoped) but we were in paradise.

KOHTAO // Travel Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog

Whilst our stay on the island me and James opted for a little bungalow/shaley among to rocks over looking the sea, which was super exciting as we felt like we had our own perfect shipwrecked/cast away destination. However at night time it was a completely different story and felt more like a shaky, haunted shed aha with the night time waves smashing against the rocks and the wind banging on our not so secure windows. But when travelling it is all part of the experience especially when stopping of on an island for a few days/nights it is nice to seek somewhere a little different to stay (other than an apartment or hotel) so it was all fun.

[blog] Koh Tao Thailand - Kirsty Wears

I loved Koa Tao, it had the perfect amount of hustle and bustle of a little village with lots to see and explore but at the same time still felt really tiny. The food was delicious and very cheap you'll be able to spot the favourite Thai restaurants a mile away because they have people queueing for tables. Also Koh Tao is where I have had the best Pad Thai to date, and believe me I have had a lot of Pad Thai. The little restaurant was called Jasmines, definitely check it out if your a noodle fan like me.

KOHTAO // Travel Thailand // Kirsty Wears BlogKOHTAO // Travel Thailand // Kirsty Wears BlogKOHTAO // Travel Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog

Whilst we were there we went on a Snorkeling trip that takes you to 5 destinations (or more cannot quite remember) the last being Koh Nang Yuan which is Koa Tao's 'little sister' island. I would most definitely recommend going on one of the snorkeling trips the island has to offer (even though I suffered with terrible sea sickness) it was such a fun day. Not only did we get to see and swim with lots of wonderful fishes and jump on and off the little boat, we were spoilt at the end by a hour or more stop of at the beautiful Koh Nang Yuan. 3 secluded peaceful islands connected connected by one silky white stripe of beach, with yet again more crystal shores which are perfect for some more snorkeling. Or if your up for it a hike to the top of one of the islands to climb the epic point of view point. Which can I point out is literally the tallest free standing rock on top of a mini mountain, with no railings or barriers and one wrong foot you could plummet to your death (ok maybe ruined it a little there), safety regulations - I don't think they are a thing here. One last thing to add.. I didn't make it to the top as I was to busy trying to regain all balance after climbing the million stairs trying to get to the top, resulting in me having a mini breakdown as I couldn't go no further due to shaky knees. Fun for me lol. But I was almighty jealous when James came back down and showed me the picture he took of the view literally breath taking. Lesson learnt; I am prefer to be more a snorkeler than a hiker.

KOHTAO // Travel Thailand // Kirsty Wears BlogKOHTAO // Travel Thailand // Kirsty Wears Blog

I know that recently Koh Tao was the recent destination for the awful murder of a couple which was terrible to hear, but I do hope this doesn't stop people wanted to visit the island as it is such a beautiful place to see and it is tragic that such a terrible thing happened there and I know from the Thai people we have spoken to here were devastated that it happened in their country.

So we were only in Koh Tao for 3 days, therefore this post doesn't go into detail to much but I have mentioned all I the best bits that I experienced, so hopefully if you are thinking of visiting Thailand and its islands this post helps inspire or excite you. Koh Tao is a lovely place to stay for a few days, but other than its snorkeling and diving I would say there was not much to offer as it was quite small, however you have Koh Pha Ngan and Koh Samui just over an hour away and they are both really fun islands. Which I will be delving into in a couple of posts time so look out for those.

Melon Bikini // Kirsty Wears Blog
Wearing Crochet Watermelon Bikini

Watermelon Bikin - Made By Me
Shorts - Levi Denim (Thailand)
Kimono - Topshop (Similar)
Sunglasses - Rayban (Thailand)

I was a little reluctant to blogging myself in a bikini, as after editing through the 'blogable' shots I was suddenly aware of so much chunk that was on show. I am not the slimmest of girls and I am certainly not body confident, forever wishing and longing to be one of those girls who loves going to the gym and eating healthily. I'm the complete opposite I love my food (carbs) and I love a good biscuit, I hate going to the gym and drag myself crying every time I do go (pretending/convincing myself I love it really -_-). Since being in Thailand I have took it upon myself to starting getting fit and have been gyming on and off since November so I do feel a little bit better in myself however I'm still vary aware that I have a long way to go to achieve where I would like my body and mind to be. But one step and one less packet of m&m's at a time, I am slowly getting there. I hope to be a dress size down by the time I return home in July.

Anywhoo enough talking about my body and lets talk about my melonkini. Are you in love? Because I am, this snazzy little crochet number was my very first crochet attempt and I going to blow my own horn and let you know that it is fabulous. After sharing my first make on Facebook and instagram a few people (nicely) joked not to go swimming as it might end up around my ankles, which I'm not going to lie slightly burst my crochet bikini bubble. Was it going to stretch and become really heavy when wet? So the day came, I'm wearing my crochet bikini and we are heading to the beach, I've got my spare bikini in my bag just in case this all goes terribly down hill (literally). In my head I don't see how the bikini can stretch as I crocheted with a tight tension and used 100% acrylic which is water resistant at the best of times. But it was my first time in a woollen bikini so I was heading in blind. Thankfully everything was fine and the bikini did not stretch or become heavy it stayed immaculate, in shape and dried really quickly in the sunshine. Perfecto' you can imagine the relief I felt as I slowly made my way out of the water head down waiting to catch my dignity but everything stayed just where it was suppose to aha. So for any of you who had those pre crochetkini nerves I am here to put your mind at ease it is safe to go swimming.

I would love to hear your thoughts on wearing crochet bikinis and whether you'd be interest in buying a watermelon one just like this, as I have some plans to make and sell some when I return in July? For a closer look see my previous post on this bikini here

70's Style Inspiration / Kirsty Wears Blog

Currently lusting over everything and anything boho-cique or 70's inspired at the moment. I have a current need to fulfil my bell bottom / sleeve desires and also buy a house filled with hippyesque decor. Pinterest is dangerous! No but seriously is this not the most perfect era to be born in, and look great. From the clean cut lines to the embroidered and floral patterns, to the girly bell sleeves and feminine seam lines and textures. Literally a dream in my eyes.

The only way a girl is going to slightly satisfy her needs to revamp her entire wardrobe whilst across the other side of the world (unable to) is well to make a wish list. No? Just me? Ah syks here it is anyway. A 70's style inspired wish list for you all, including all my favourite stores and of course with all product links included (because I'm good like that). Enjoy Peeps, let me know if you are also in LOVE with the whole 70's trend that is slowly creeping back in and if you have any favourites from my chosen pieces above.
